Our WBs are basically wingers, often highest players up the park. It can be used as a real offensive formation the way we play it when we do it properly. Shankland/Boyce/Lowry as the front 3 is deathly slow and struggled to unpick the Livi lock, and will do so again on Saturday. Playing them when fully fit will require a move away from 3 at the back, no place for Oda at the moment. For me we need to get Tagawa or Vargas up front ahead of Shankland with Oda and McKay flanking them. The problem still exists that we don’t have the wing backs to play 3 at the back. I think Rowles has been good in the majority of games, a few blunders against better teams no doubt. What we're doing just now may not prove to be the long term answer but it's been a step forward from where we were. The midfield was a mess and Shankland is not suited to playing up front on his own. Playing two up front has noticeably improved Lawrence Shankland's form Got Beni back in the starting eleven without over exposing him physicallyģ.
